Penny Nickel and Green Banana Eco Cruiser
We didn't try out any boards that were new to Nicole this trip. We just went skating and then for a sunset and dinner with our friends Jason and Kylie. Nicole is getting pretty good, and Kylie is not bad for only going out s few times either.
We took the Green Banana Eco Cruiser, Nicole's favorite board, and the Penny Nickel, one of my favorites.

I had just received a Diff case that has the mount for lenses for my phone so I took a bunch of photos with a fisheye lens. I have to use it more to decide if I like it, but it is the only secure way I have found to mount the lenses. The little magnetic rings they come with just don't cut it.

Penny Nickel to the beach
I cant believe I have not changed anything on this yet. It is due though. I took a longer ride than normal today and the bearings need an upgrade. Maybe the bushings too but they are not too bad. I am surprised how much I like how these trucks feel.

Penny Nickel Gripped
I gripped and took this new Penny Nickel on a first ride for a couple laps around the neighborhood today.
Pics pre-grip
So long top logo.
Now my skateboard's top is less slidey.
After riding for a while I can say this is the funnest skateboard ever. Now I say that about every skateboard I ride, except for ones with stupid hard wheels, but that does not make it less true. I like the original because it is so short it turns like crazy. In comparison this one still turns, maybe not so much but feels comfortable riding much faster. Also there is no getting used to the length for me. After riding a longer board one day and then riding a 22" the next you have to pay attention to your feet because there is not much space for them. This is long enough that there was no thought to my foot placment while kicking around.
I expected to change out the trucks soon, maybe to some 4.3 Bennetts or some Indy 129s. I might even try my new Indeesz 139s but I think they might be too wide unless I use some narrow wheels. I was surprised though that these trucks feel pretty good so far. I will probably change the bearings and play with different bushings, but I think I will keep these trucks and wheels on for a while.
Or I will get bored and put the Indy's on anyway because I like how they look and I need an excuse to drill the baseplates for old school mounting holes anyway. I want to see if this Nickel deck and these Penny trucks are a true old school mounting pattern or of they are a little short like the 22".
On a side note, I am not sure if I got a bad piece or what but that Mob Pabst Blue Ribbon grip tape sucked. When I need grip tape I usually go to the Vans store and buy Jessup from the cute girl. This is the first time I have ordered grip tape in a while. Maybe the printing messes it up but it was really brittle and had a couple wrinkles that were hard to get out while applying it to the deck. On the upside this Nickel was easy to trim up neat as was the 22" because of the squared lip at the edge of their molded traction.
