Penny Skateboards iPhone case

My Penny iPhone covers came today.  They look awesome, it takes a little jostling to get them on right so they are not holding the power button in.  I had to take the back side plastic protector off to get them to fit just right.  I included a few pics of the Penny case next to the Vans iPhone case as a comparison.  I like the rubber on the Penny a little better, the Vans is softer and the sides can flap around a little.  The Penny is stiffer so it stays considerably tighter against the sides of the phone.  A feature I like is the hole for the vibrate switch is cut right so it fits the 4s and the older 4 where the switch is a little higher.  Nice case.

I hate when this guy is at the beach.

Although I do have to admit, I don't hate his mohawk.

Penny Time Prize

I have posted about Penny Time before, it is a very fun iPhone game.  It has only been out for a few months and already had a contest where you could win a real Penny for doing well in the game.  To get one of the Pennys we had to be in the top 15 scores for the contest level.  I barely squeaked by and was 14th in the first Penny Time Competition.  After a few verification steps, and a little wait on shipping and what not, I received my new Penny yesterday.  It was raining like crazy, but I still got across the street between bursts of rain to take some pics.

My current Penny is a 2011 model, so I was excited to get the 2012.

And it is a great color combination too.

I cant wait to get out and spend some time on it once this bad weather breaks.  

Thanks again Penny Time and everyone reading this should go grab their app.  Im not so good at video games and I just practiced a little bit and now have a brand new Penny.

New Penny Wheels

Im not sure if that is good or bad.

The Penny wheels that I already have are growing on me so I just picked up these two sets last week.

And another set of 100mm Indeesz hangers because I found them at a good price and I have more narrow boards than wide boards.  Now I have Indeesz on my Penny and on my Nickel.

I used to hate when people called a bunch of their skateboards a quiver.  Then after I took this picture I tried ti think of another word for it.  Quiver it is.  Damn it.

Re-Drilled Penny and Stereo

Only 10 mins each or so, Put in two bolts and tightened them up then drilled through the other two holes.  Everything lined up good and tightening them up pulled the bolt heads mostly into the counterbored holes that were there originally so they are a little off, but look pretty much like they did with the stock trucks.

Why Penny, Why?

Penny Skateboards are not drilled to mount standard trucks.

This is about what Penny Trucks look like.

And this is what I wanted to happen.

I got these Surf-Rodz Indeesz.  I got the 100mm because I knew they were for a mini.  I mostly wanted them for this board.  

But...

If you look close, the mounting holes are off.  They are close to the old school mounting pattern, but just enough shorter not to work.  It is definitely the Penny drilling and trucks that are off, I compared them to the Indeesz and some Trackers and some Randals.  Maybe because Penny is an Australian company they use a different patern?  The Penny deck is counterbore for the hardware so redrilling will make it look screwy.  Oh well, good trucks for another board I guess.

Stock Penny Skateboard Bushings

These feel really soft although I am not sure of the durometer.

There is a small cone roadside and a barrel boardside.

The cone is 7/16ths tall and tapers from 1" to 3/4' wide.

The barrel is 9/16ths tall and 1" wide.

Penny Skateboard finally arrived.

I ordered this Penny Skateboard 2 Fridays ago and after what seemed like 100 years, it finally showed up today.  I had a Fosters to celebrate.

I got black with red wheels.  My normal schedule is to take my dog for a skate/walk twice a day, for about a mile each.  Although usually Liberty slows down and gets carried the better part of the way.  Point is this little guy will lots of miles by next week.  Then if I can get out skating with the other locals this weekend, I will post a review of how it compares to the other smaller, non wood decks I have.

Old Red Composite? Board

This hangs in my friends garage.  It seems fun, but the bearings are in pretty bad shape.  I have a Penny Skateboard on the way that should be similar to this, just a little shorter, but with modern wheels and bearings.  I do not know about the trucks, or if they use standard mounting holes.  I will give them a try but have a set of Halftracks here that need a home.  Mmmmm... Penny deck, Tracker Midtracks, maybe some 62mm Bennett Alligators.  It sucks waiting on shipping.
