Huge Penny Sticker

How cool is this...

It is life sized.  I just don't know where to put it.  The nice guys at Shoreline Skate Shop hooked me up with it after I had a long conversation about plastic skateboards with them.
If you are in the Redington Shores area, check them out, they have a bunch of Pennys and Nickels there.

  1. Hey there. Firstly, I want to thank you for your blog. I find it very fun and interesting to read. I'd like to ask you for some pieces od advice. I'm a teenage girl from Czech republic (sorry for the grammar or spelling mistakes) and I have nothing to do this summer so I've decided to learn skateboarding. :D But I don't want to do those crazy stuff and the tricks, which are usually made on skateboards. I just want to cruise around the town, in the park, etc. And then I found your blog and I really fell in love with the plastic skateboards. So my question is, which type of skateboard would you recommend me? I've been deciding among the Penny board, Penny Nickel board, Stereo Vinyl Cruiser or the Globe Bantam. I'd like to own something simple but high-quality, so let's pretend money doesn't matter. :D I'm a beginner so I'd like to start with something smooth and easily to ride. And I'd like some type of board, which will be enough for cruising without any upgrading and so on, because honestly, I'm a teenager and student and I don't have much money (and I know that every new component costs a lot). :D :D I'm looking forward to your answers, have a good day, A.

  2. Hi, Thank You for the nice words.
I would suggest the Penny or the Nickel. I think they are set up better stock than the Globe or the Stereo. Personally I like the Penny best but my girlfriend is also learning to skate and she says it is much easier to start on a bigger board like the Penny. Since you are just learning maybe consider both but lean towards the Nickel. The Nickel cruises and carves very well. I think it has the best stock trucks out of any of the plastic boards. It has Penny wheels that are pretty good too. I think you will have a lot of fun on it. I would add some grip tape to it, its not very much money and really helps in my opinion, but that is up to you.
Let me know what you decide, its awesome you are going to start skating, you'll have lots of fun.

  3. I'll second his opinion. Just got a Penny myself and I really enjoy it. Can't speak on the Nickel, but if it's anything like the Penny it is an absolute blast. I haven't added grip tape, but definitely recommend dropping some bones bearings and khiro bushings in it. I'm using a blue khiro barrel boardside and insert roadside (I weigh 130 lbs or 59 kg for reference) and it rides perfect. It's my first plastic cruiser and I had no problem adjusting from my Gravity Hypercarve 47. Definitely recommend it.

    1. I like Midtracks the best on it. I did have to drill mine a little bit but others have said they were able to force the bolts through without drilling. The truck holes are not standard, so no other tricks are a perfect fit for the Penny/Stereo/Fish decks. Sounds like you are building an awesome setup, the Midtracks are worth having to mod just a tiny bit, you might even get away without any drilling at all if you're lucky.

    5. No problem, ask any questions you have. You can use the 85mm Midtracks that have Dart baseplates or Rt-s baseplates, or rt-s in front and dart in back. The trucks in your link will work awesome. You may be able to get the bolts through with no drilling, but you may have to do a little to 2 holes for each truck. You aren't drilling new holes, just opening them up a little, its not too big of a deal.
