Surf Keeyz

At first I couldnt believe that I paid $16 for these when they came. Next to a bushing for size comparison.

This is a set of Surf Keeyz for Surf Rodz trucks. I got the idea, but it really comes together when you are putting them in the trucks. Before them, there is this much room for play. This is looking down the kingpin into the bushing seat.

After sliding the Keeys in it looks like this, no more gap, has to just rotate around that point, can not go side to side.

Then I took them for a ride. I really think I felt about $16 worth of difference. I am not ruling out that it is all in my head but I am convinced that side by side on the same setups these feel different and better.

Ace 00 Trucks Feel Good Now

I finally got the Aces fun to ride. The tops are 86a front and 91a back short cones from the Venom Conventional sets. The bottoms are 80a Venom Eliminators. I got the Elims that soft because of all the extra material. They feel awesome.

That said, these are the ugliest bushings I have ever bought, holy cow. Look at these compared to the Riptides. Oh well, they ride nice.

Venom Eliminators

9/16" tall overall, fat part is 3/8" tall

regular part is a little less than 1" wide and the fat part is about 1 1/8" wide

This weeks BMX ride

Riptide Chubby Bushings

I was excited to try these. I first put the 80a in some Ace00s and didnt care for them, I am going to have to figure out what to put them in next because I really want to like them. I put the Blue 85a in some Bennetts and put them on my Nickel. Im going to ride if for the next few days and see how they feel.

They are:

fat part-about 7/16" tall and about 9/16" tall overall

and fat part about 1 3/16" across and the small part about 1" across

also come with great big 1 1/4" flat washers

Ill post some pics of the blues in the Bennetts when I get to ride them a little bit.

Riding Ace 00 Trucks on Fish Skateboard

Took my new Ace00 trucks for a ride yesterday and today. I have them set up with Khiro Reds.

Definitely better than stock but they do not feel near as good as Indeesz. Im going to have to try some different bushings and probably put a longer kingpin in them. They have a pressed in splined kingpin like Indys so that will involve hammering it out and JB Welding standard ones in.

Ace 00 Trucks

So last week I finally got around to ordering some Ace 00s. Mostly because I want some narrow Indys for one of my little cruisers but Indy doesnt make 109s any more. These are supposed to be based on Indy Stage 3 geometry I think so I decided to give them a shot. I am going to have to drill out the baseplates for old school mounting. I will get to that later tonight or tomorrow and post some pics. For now, here they are. 3.75" hanger and 6.5" axel.
