Toy army men but skateboarders?

These things have been amusing me and my dog for a few days.  I set them up in two armys and had them fight on my ottoman but they just kept doing boardslides on my notebook and ollieing my keys.  So instead I just took some to the bathroom sink and had them carve around like it was a bowl.  Then I got bored and shaved.  I do not know what else to do with them so I guess I will just put one or two in my pocket when I go to a store and put them where a kid will find them.

Indeesz Pivot Bushings Size

While playing with these Indeesz I took out the stock pivot bushings just to see what fit.  I got some Khiro large and some Randal size just to try this out.  The Khiros are too small.  The Randals fit just right.  They are softer, but will work just fine.

More Surf-Rodz Indeesz

Since I had extra bushing seats already I shopped around until I found a good deal on some hangers and baseplates to build up another set of 8mm Indeesz.  This time I got a more conventional width, 139mm.  I first tried them with some Venom conventional bushings and they were way too squishy with one million wheelbites.  I swapped the roadsides out with red Khiro inserts and it did not make much difference.  So I drove over to the Vans store, partially because I am too impatient to order some Bones mediums and partially because there is a really cute girl who works there.  They were out of mediums.  I got the Bones hards that are in the trucks below because the only other brand of bushings they have are stupid Doh-dohs.  That was not the best idea.  These bushings turn like something that does not turn very much.  I am going to have to get much fatter or I am going to have to change them out before these trucks are much fun.  Maybe this is a good excuse for me to try some Riptide Eliminators or some Riptide Chubby Bushings.  I have been meaning to try some new bushings with a stimulator shape.

Speaking of Rails

I have had these for a while and after playing with rails for the last 2 days or so I am finally ready to admit it.  They are silly.  They stick on and are really thin.
I feel like these will be in my box of old weird parts forever, I can not see them making any board cooler or more useful.

Peel off and stick.

these are really really really thin.

Old Rat Nuts and New Rails Do Not Work Together

Was getting ready to mount my recently purchased Powell Peralta Rib Bones on my Vallely Reissue.  I wanted to use an old pack of Powell Peralta Rat Nuts I had.  No good.  The counterbored part of the hole in the rail is too small for the head of the bolt to fit in.  Making the holes bigger wont work because the head of the bolt is almost as wide as the rail so there would not be much/any rail left where the bolts are.
Sooooooo.... I guess  I will use the screws that come with it unless I can find some drywall screws around here to put through and cut off.  I wanted to use the Rat Nuts so I would not have to regrip the deck.  I guess I will just be careful not to go through with the drill and use the supplied screws.

These were sold as these kits to stop your deck from delaminating, so that may be why the head is wide. I would think that rails were just that much wider in the 80, and they used these same bolts for the plastics though.

New Rails.

New Rails.  For a while the only Powell rails I saw available were those orange Thin Ribs.  I had a set but did not like them, so I gave them to my buddy Charlie.  He skated them a few times and did not like them either.  Now we can all get Powell Rib Bones in black and white as well as the orange Thin Ribs.  This set just came, I think I am going to put them on my Vallely Reissue or a new school deck to try them out.  The rails now come with little wood screws instead of Rat Nuts, which sucks, but I still have some old packs of Rat Nuts so I will probably use those instead.

Re-Grip

I had some sheets of grip tape left over from gripping the Penny and Stereo decks.  I like the clear grip, it looks cool, but It never seems to work as well as black grip.  The black grip looks good anyway.  These boards are so fun.  I have been riding the top one for a while with harder than I usually ride, 89a wheels and harder bushings. I switched the bushings in the bottom one to some bones mediums, from pretty soft bushings.  I think I am going to get some harder wheels for it and use it for the Bro Bowl and some other local parks now that I am feeling a little recovered after my surgery.

Grip Tape For Stereo Vinyl Cruiser and Penny Skateboard

I did this a few days ago.  Because of the square lip on the raised "grip"part of both of the boards it is pretty easy to trim and looks pretty good.  This is easy and cheap and makes these boards ride 1000 times better.  At first I was just putting an inch strip down the center of the board, that works okay if you still want to see the design in the top of the deck.  This feels much better though, I think they stay like this now.
